Irving B. Elkins, M.D.

Dr Elkins, urologist Dr. Elkins is certified by the American Board of Urology and has been a member of Urology Associates of New River Valley since 1986. He earned his graduate degree from the University of North Carolina in 1963, and his medical degree from Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University in 1969. Following his medical degree he performed an internship at Baptist Hospital at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine, which he completed in 1970. He completed two residencies, both of which were performed at Baptist Hospital. The first residency in the field of general surgery he completed in 1971. For the next four years, Dr. Elkins worked on his urology residency, which he completed in 1975.

In addition to his medical background, Dr. Elkins has also served in the Army Reserve from 1971 to 1995 and was on active duty during Operation Desert Storm. Today, Dr. Elkins is affiliated with Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, Montgomery Regional Hospital, Wythe County Community Hospital, and is a member of numerous medical associations including the American Urological Association and the Virginia Urological Society.

Kevin P. Griffin, M.D.

Dr Griffin, urologist Dr. Griffin is certified by the American Board of Urology and has been a member of the Urology Associates of New River Valley since 1995. He earned his medical degree from the University of Texas Health Science at San Antonio, Texas in 1989. He performed both his residency and internship at University of Texas Health Science at San Antonio Affiliated Hospitals over the next six years. From 1989 to 1990 he performed his residency in general surgery and for the next five years he performed his urology residency. During the final year of the urology residency Dr. Griffin was named chief resident.

Dr. Griffin is a member of professional organizations including the American Urologic Association and the Virginia Medical Society. Dr. Griffin is also a member of the hospital staff at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, Columbia Montgomery Regional Hospital, Columbia Pulaski Community Hospital, Wythe County Community Hospital, and the New River Valley Surgery Center.

William W. King, M.D.

Dr King, urologist Dr. King is certified by the American Board of Urology. He earned his undergraduate degree from Virginia Polytechnical Institute in 1959 and his medical degree from the University of Virginia in 1964. After receiving his medical degree, he performed an internship at the University of Washington Hospital in Seattle before returning to the east coast for his residency. Dr. King performed his residency in general surgery at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine at Wake Forest University from 1967 to 1968. His urology residency immediately followed, also at the Bowman Gray School of Medicine, and he completed this residency in 1972.

Dr. King also served in the United States Public Health Service from 1965 to 1967 and was discharged honorably. He has been an assistant professor of urology at the University of Tennessee. He is a member of several professional organizations including the American Urological Association and the Medical Society of Virginia. Dr. King remains active in the urologic community having published articles, given presentations, and investigated pharmaceutical developments.

Judy L. Chun, M.D.

Dr Chun, urologist Dr. Chun is certified by the American Board of Urology. She earned her bachelor's degree in chemistry, with honors, at Grinnell College in Iowa. She then received her medical degree from the University of Iowa College of Medicine. She completed her surgery internship and her urology residency at University of North Carolina Hospitals, Chapel Hill. She was honored with numerous awards throughout her education and training.

After completing her residency, Dr. Chun joined Urology Associates of New River Valley in August 2003. She has published a number of professional articles covering topics such as prostatectomy, impotence, and Peyronie's disease.

Dr. Chun is affiliated with Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, the New River Valley Surgery Center, Montgomery Regional Hospital, Pulaski Community Hospital, and Wythe County Community Hospital. She is a member of numerous professional associations including the American Urological Association and the Virginia Urological Society.

Eric S. Gwynn, M.D.

Dr Gwynn, urologist Dr. Gwynn is certified by the American Board of Urology. Dr. Gwynn earned his bachelor's degree in 1997 from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University in Blacksburg, VA. He received his masters and medical degrees from Medical College of Virginia in Richmond, VA. Dr. Gwynn then completed his internship and urology residency at Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC, in June 2007, and joined Urology Associates of New River Valley in July 2007.

Dr. Gwynn is a member of the American Urological Association, the American Endourological Association, and the American Medical Association. He is affiliated with Carilion New River Valley Medical Center, New River Valley Surgery Center, Montgomery Regional Hospital, Pulaski Community Hospital, and Wythe County Community Hospital.
